ABOUT AMANDA

Everyday I witness the healing that occurs when people come together - be it to address challenges and get support, to connect about shared experiences and goals, or to grow ways of being that promote healthier interactions, relationships and connections.

I see each person I meet as already whole, intact, enough - and so very full of capacity to live their life as they want it. Together we begin from a place of capacity and strength - rather than deficit.

Credentials and Experience

I have been practicing counselling and teaching mental health and wellness in various capacities over the past 10 years. I have worked in non-profits, public schools, health-care settings and community settings. I have practiced in roles such as clinical counsellor, social worker, prevention specialist, mental health clinician, community educator and youth engagement worker. I have worked extensively with youth and adults in a multitude of situations addressing wellness, mental illness, substance use, family/work/life issues, community building and resilience/capacity building.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW, BSW, MSW) with the British Columbia College of Social Work.

I have a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from University of British Columbia Okanagan, as well as Bachelor of Social Work Degree (BSW) from B.C’s Indigenous Post Secondary Institute, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology. My education is rooted in a trauma informed, strengths-based and person-centered approach.

I am certified through the Mental Health Commission of Canada as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, and offer Mental Health First Aid certification training both at community and organizational levels.

I teach and practice meditation with the Vancouver based practice Spiritual Essentials. I offer meditation and energy awareness training through Centering and Grounding Workshops, Classes, and Introductory Sessions.
